The Indian Golf Society UK concluded its 2025 season in style with the Annual Competition held on 15th October 2025 at the magnificent The Oxfordshire Golf Club. Hosted by the Society’s new secretary, Babu, the event was exceptionally well attended, drawing both long-standing members and several new faces for a memorable day of golf, food, and fellowship.
Located in the heart of the Oxfordshire countryside near Thame, The Oxfordshire Golf Club is one of England’s premier championship courses. Designed by the legendary Rees Jones, the course has hosted multiple European Tour events and is renowned for its challenging layout, undulating fairways, and immaculate greens. The autumnal backdrop, with trees turning golden and crisp October air, created a stunning setting for the Society’s flagship event.
The day began with a warm welcome and morning briefing led by Babu, who greeted members with freshly prepared baps and hot coffee, setting a relaxed and friendly tone for the day ahead. The atmosphere was buzzing as members, including many new joiners, introduced themselves and mingled before heading out onto the course.
Despite the cooler autumn weather, conditions were excellent, and the course played beautifully. Players enjoyed a fantastic round filled with good-natured competition, fine golf, and plenty of laughter.
After the round, members gathered in the clubhouse for refreshing post-golf drinks, sharing stories and comparing scores as the day’s highlights were discussed. This was followed by a delicious three-course meal, during which the camaraderie of the Society shone brightly.
The prize presentation began with Babu thanking The Oxfordshire Golf Club for their outstanding hospitality and acknowledging the support and enthusiasm of all the members who made the season such a success. The results reflected some exceptional performances across the field.
In a surprising twist, young resident doctor Amrit made his mark by winning both the Nearest to the Pin and Longest Drive competitions — achievements that displaced the usually dominant Babu in both categories, much to everyone’s delight. The overall winner of the Annual Competition was Harminder Deol, who was presented with the prestigious rolling trophy. The runner-up was Ashvin Pimpalnerkar, who delivered a strong and consistent performance throughout the round.
The day marked a fitting end to another successful season for the Indian Golf Society UK, blending great golf, warm friendship, and a shared passion for the game.
